Luton Town have been revealed to be the only Premier League side not to make the top 100 in worldwide squad cost.
Luton Town are at a known disadvantage this season in the Premier League with a squad which on paper isn’t up to Premier League quality.
Having risen rapidly through the leagues, Luton find themselves with a team that is in reality, more of Championship starting XI.
This has been seen as they have lost every game thus far which has confirmed early fears of a potential struggle.
It has been suggested that the squad has been made with the intention of relegation in order to be in a stronger position in a future promotion.
The true magnitude of the gulf in value between the teams in the division is seen by a new report from the CIES Football Observatory.

Luton not in the top 100
According to the report by the Football Observatory, Luton are the only Premier League club who aren’t in possession of a squad in the top 100 worldwide.
The list sees all other 19 clubs ranked in the top 100, along with clubs from across the globe.
It also sees Luton who Transfermarkt cite as having a squad value of just £73.3 million, ranked lower than multiple second division sides.
In fact no player who is at the club permanently is valued at over £10m which is a huge weakness in the team.
After seeing this, it is looking like an impossible task to survive relegation, and would be miraculous if they can do so.
