Luton Town midfielder Allan Campbell looks set to be on his way out of Kenilworth Road on transfer deadline day.

According to Darren Witcoop, the 25-year-old midfielder is one of five Hatters players set to be axed before the close of business this evening.

Alongside Campbell on the list of potential departures is Glen Rea, Matt Macey, Dion Pereira and Admiral Muskwe.

Witcoop stated that all of the above players had been offered to EFL clubs, Millwall and Bristol City specifically are the sides keen on securing Campbell’s services.

The Scottish playmaker signed for Luton from Motherwell in the summer of 2021 and played a pivotal role in Rob Edwards’ side gaining promotion to the Premier League last season, racking up 43 appearances in the Championship.

Despite his efforts, Campbell has fallen down the pecking order and is no longer needed at Kenilworth Road.

The midfielder has made 86 appearances for the Hatters in total, chipping in with seven goals and four assists in that time.

Having failed to make an appearance in Luton’s Carabao Cup tie with Gillingham, Edwards addressed his stance on Campbell.

What is next for Campbell?

“We absolutely love him, he deserves to play football as well, because he’s the best professional,” said Edwards.

“It’s probably a little bit difficult for him to get that game time, so it’s something that we’re looking at, at the moment with him.

“He deserves to play. We love him to bits here as well, so if he’s here, brilliant.”

Despite the praise, there was a clear hint towards Campbell’s future potentially lying elsewhere and it looks likely that it will either be the Lions or the Robins who will capitalise.

If the Scotsman does depart the Hatters this summer, he will no doubt be fondly remembered by the Luton faithful.
