As the Luton Town squad begins to shape up ahead of their maiden Premier League campaign, Carlos Mendes Gomes looks set to depart for League One outfit Bolton Wanderers.
According to the Bolton News, a deal to see the Spanish attacker move away from Kenilworth Road is close.
Gomes joined the Hatters from Morecambe in 2021, but struggled for game time and subsequently found himself out on loan last season with Fleetwood Town.
During his time with the Cod Army, he hit the back of the net on nine occasions and also registered five assists throughout his 37 appearances for the club.

His impressive performances in the third tier, tied with Luton’s promotion to the top flight, no doubt put a number of sides on red alert as the 24-year-old seemingly became surplus to requirements.
The Wanderers are now poised to capitalise, putting an end to Gomes’ short stay with the Hatters.
He made 15 appearances for Luton in total, 14 of which came in the 2021/22 campaign, scoring twice overall. His first goal came in the FA Cup against Cambridge United during a 3-0 win, his second in a 3-2 loss to Newport County in the Carabao Cup at the beginning of last season.
Bolton manager Ian Evatt has already spoken on the possible deal despite no confirmation of the transfer just yet.
Is it the right time for Gomes to leave?
“As far as where we are right now, it is close,” said Evatt.
“It is very close, but it is not done yet.
“He is multi-functional, multi-dimensional. He can play wide, he can play up front, he can play as a No. 8 or No. 10.
“He brings the ability to dribble and drive past defenders, to receive centrally in tight spaces and create.
“Hopefully we can get it finalised and over the line.”
Gomes’ days with Luton are seemingly numbered, and it is safe to say that this transfer suits all parties.
