Luton Town could be about to sign Manchester United’s Teden Mengi on a permanent deal, Rob Edwards has remained coy.
Luton have been desperately trying to strengthen their defence this week.
Conceding seven goals in just two Premier League games has left them not feeling too defensively secure.
A deal for Isaac Hayden was expected but has since been collapsed.
Axel Tuanzebe has been ruled out despite continuing to train at the club’s training ground.
So instead Luton have went for a former England youth international.
The man in question being Teden Mengi who is reportedly about to leave his boyhood club with game-time on the agenda.
Mengi has spent time on loan at Derby County and Birmingham City in recent years but has struggled to breakthrough at United.
Hence his likely arrival at Kenilworth Road this summer seeming likely.
With a deal close, Hatters boss Rob Edwards was quizzed on the youngster during his press conference.
He had a lot to say.

Edwards on Mengi deal
Luton Today have reported that Edwards took questions on Mengi during his presser.
When asked about the interest, Edwards said: “He’s someone that we like.
“There are talks ongoing at the moment, but I’ve got nothing to report.
“Before anything’s finished, I’ve got to be honest, I don’t want to talk about anyone’s players.
“He’s someone that we like, but I don’t want to go into too much detail at the moment if you don’t mind.
“If we can further on, then I’ll give you some more.”
