Carlton Morris has been nominated by the PFA for the Championship Players’ Player of the Year Award for the 2022/23 season.

Luton Town have announced the nomination through their official website.

Morris scored 20 goals assisted seven last season after signing for the club last summer from Barnsley.

The striker scored a penalty in the shootout as the Hatters beat Coventry City.

The 27-year-old made history as he scored against Brighton and Hove Albion, registering Town’s first ever Premier League goal.

Morris faces strong competition for the award with Championship top scorer and player of the year, Chuba Akpom nominated.

League champion Josh Brownhill and play off final runner up Viktor Gyokeres are both nominated.

New Marseille man, Iliman Ndiaye, as well as Southampton star and Burnley loanee, Nathan Tella, are nominated.

Luton manager has commented on his striker saying:

“It’s a great achievement for Carlton. It’s fully deserved, he was phenomenal for us last season not just with his goals but his all-round play for us was instrumental for our promotion.

“Scoring goals is a difficult thing to do and he did 20 times in the league which was huge for us, so well done to him. We are really proud of Carlton.”

Morris is a star for the Hatters and has gained lots of plaudits in just a year at the club.

The results of the award will be announced on the 29th of August.

The striker and Luton fans will be hopeful of another accolade for their successful season last year.
