Jacob Brown is officially a Luton Town player following an announcement from the club. He joins the Hatters from Stoke City for an undisclosed fee.

This is the second signing in as many days for Town, who announced the surprise signing of Ross Barkley yesterday.

The Scotland international forward is comfortable playing up top or on the wing, providing some versatility to Luton’s front line.

In 30 starts last season he scored seven and assisted one, and has had many admirers over his spell in the Potteries.

What Jacob Brown adds to Luton Town

Despite being 5’8 in height, Brown is adept at winning the ball in the air. That is a positive going forward but also allows him to contribute in defensive situations, adding to the solidity of the side.

He started this season on the right wing for stoke but is likely to play as a striker in Rob Edwards’ 5-3-2.

He adds a different dimension to the Hatters’ attack adding pace to a strike force consisting of height, power and ruthlessness with Carlton Morris and Elijah Adebayo.

What Rob Edwards thinks

Discussing his new signing on the club’s official website Edwards said: “Jacob really suits the way we want to play. He has power, speed, athleticism, a really good engine to press and continually do that.”

His speed and engine will be integral to how Luton play this season, getting into the faces of opposition defenders and attempting to cause mistakes and capitalise on that.

Edwards also sees Brown as a weapon up front saying: “He can score goals and we want him to be ruthless when he gets the opportunities. He can play in a number of different positions, too.”

The versatility of Brown, paired with his ability to stretch defences and score goals, suits Luton down to a tee. That could see the forward have a positive debut Premier League campaign.
