Pundit makes negative Luton claim about Premier League future

Garth Crooks has suggested that Luton Town will be relegated faster than any club in Premier League history in disrespectful comment.

Luton suffered their third loss of the season against West Ham United at Kenilworth road, losing 2-1.

Jarod Bowen and Kurt Zouma scored for the away side before Mads Andersen got his first goal for the Hatters.

Despite sounding like a poor start on paper, losses to Brighton and Hove Albion and Chelsea isn’t unexpected.

A narrow defeat to Europa Conference League champions, West Ham, isn’t too bad either.

Hatters fans would like to have points on the board, but with the opposition so far, it isn’t all doom and gloom.

With that being said Garth Crooks doesn’t agree.

What has Garth Crooks said about Luton Town?

A segment of an article that has angered a lot of football fans, Crooks’ team of the week for the BBC is regularly controvertial.

An inclusion of Zouma in his backline saw him take a dig at the Hatters.

When giving his reasoning for choosing the French defender he said: “Zouma was the outstanding defender for the Hammers in their 2-1 win against a Luton Town.”

A fair inclusion given his performance and goal.

The part of this article that was meant to be about the centre back, became an attack.

Talking down Luton, he said: “They are just making up the Premier League numbers.

“It’s good to see the tangerine colours of Luton back in the big league once more, but I can’t take them seriously and see them down by Christmas.”

A team new to the league and attempting to gel together 12 new players, it will take time.

Where is this attitude for Burnley? For Sheffield United? For Everton? Who are all in similar veins of form.

This is just disrespectful to Rob Edwards, Luton Town and their fans. Purely done for reaction which the BBC isn’t there for.

Luton will thrive on all this disrespect and look to prove any doubters wrong.
