Luton Town travel to Exeter City in the EFL Cup this week and Rob Edwards has confirmed that he will rotate his squad.

Last time out the Hatters defeated Gillingham 3-2. This saw them take their place in the next round of the cup.

Goals from Jacob Brown and Cauley Woodrow, supplemented by a wonder goal from Alfie Doughty.

There were plenty of changes to that side at Kenilworth Road. It appears that the same decisions will be made again.

In the next round, an away trip to face the Grecians was picked out of the pot.

What has Rob Edwards said?

Last time out in the cup, Woodrow, Luke Berry and Tim Krul were the headline changes.

This time out, the Hatters have more new signings who will be looking to make a splash.

Tanith Chong, Teden Mengi and Elijah Adebayo will all be looking to get some minutes under their belts against Exeter.

This was confirmed by Edwards: “Yes, we will make changes, but I look at the depth in the squad.”

With the signings made by the club this summer, it is clear the manager is happy.

On that point, he said: “What we’ve got now and I’m really confident with the team that we field will be a team that can win the game.”

The players want a cup run and will hope that can breed positivity and a winning mentality: “That was the message in the dressing room, really valuing the cup.

“We want to progress and we want to win the game, but there will be changes yes.”

Against League One opposition, the Hatters will be hoping a win should be pretty clear cut. Never take anything for granted though.
