Rob Edwards has praised the Luton Town fans for their support against Brighton and Hove Albion, but he doesn’t want to celebrate losses.

3,000 Hatters made their way down south and made a right old noise, in spite of the result.

A 4-1 loss in their first ever Premier League game did little to dampen the Luton mood.

Players were applauded off the pitch as fans respected the effort shown.

Despite the happiness of the fans, Edwards didn’t want losing to become an accepted thing this season.

What has Rob Edwards said?

“I don’t like losing, so I didn’t enjoy it that much.”

The fans in full voice, but their manager recognised there was improvements to be made.

An elite level mentality from the Hatters’ boss who won’t accept the bare minimum.

Speaking with Luton Today he made his feelings known.

He was extremely appreciative of the fans: “It was amazing the support that we had, the reception that they gave us at the end was terrific as well, so massive thanks to them, they mean so much to us.”

The game acted as a reality check for Edwards and his players after being walking on cloud nine following promotion.

Talking about the new league he said: “I don’t want anyone to be happy about losing football matches, we’re certainly not.

“We accept that we’re going to at times this year because of the level we’re at, but we don’t like it.”

Captain Tom Lockyer wasn’t under any illusions, and shared similar opinions to his boss: “

“We’re now going into what’s probably the biggest challenge the club’s had.

“We know how big a scale of challenge it is, but we can’t change what we do just because of that.”

The attitude within the club is top class and the mentality to succeed is clearly there.
