New signing Jacob Brown made his debut for Luton Town against Brighton and Hove Albion, coming off the bench in the second half. He has subsequently discussed his performance.

After coming on, Brown almost scored straight away seeing his cross come shot, deflect just wide of Jason Steele’s goal.

He had his say on the game when he won a penalty while 2-0 down.

His cross was handled by Lewis Dunk, and the chance was converted from 12 yards by Carlton Morris.

Brown had an effort saved late on by Steele, preventing the striker getting his debut goal.

Despite the heavy defeat, a promising performance on opening day by the signing from Stoke.

What has Jacob Brown said?

Speaking about his performance post match, Brown appeared pleased with his efforts: “When I came off the bench, my instructions were clear, just to bring some energy.

“I was trying to run in behind, press when it’s right to press and I think I’ve got to learn from that.”

Constructive criticism for himself to learn from, showing a great mindset that will serve him well moving forward.

He felt that he had a ‘positive impact’ on the game, but was still unhappy with certain aspects of his game.

“I like to be hard on myself, so I’m not happy that I’ve had a shot saved.

“I’d rather score, but I’ve just got to work on that and can hopefully start getting some goals soon”

The 25-year-old has a great attitude, that is clear to see.

What has Rob Edwards said about Jacob Brown?

Rob Edwards was pleased with his new man saying: “He did look good, that’s why we brought him to the club.

“We really like him, he is lively and I think he’s going to impress people at this level.”

The Hatters boss has faith in the striker who may become a key man this season if his performances match his first game.

The Town boss was pleased with his side’s overall performance despite the loss.

“We imposed ourselves on the game, we had chances ourselves, against a top side like that you’re going to take a lot of positives from that.”

A loss on opening day, but spirits are not dampened at Kenilworth Road. Two weeks until the next game, time to adjust to the new league.
